I’m having trouble lighting my Ooni Karu 16 Gas Burner.Updated 7 months ago
**Before following the steps below, please read the following safety advice:**
* Always stand clear of your oven when igniting - ensure nobody is within 1 metre (3ft) of the front of the oven.
* Always allow 5-minute intervals between lighting attempts. This is to allow time for any gas to disperse.
* Always remove the fuel hatch and open the door when lighting the gas burner.
* Make sure to read through the safety manual for your region:

If you're having trouble lighting your Ooni Karu 16 Gas Burner, begin by
detaching your regulator from your propane tank. Wait 5 minutes, then
reconnect your regulator to your propane tank and re-light.
**If your gas burner isn 't lighting, run through the checklist below:**
**Make sure your gas burner is set up correctly:**
**Before ignition: **
* Make sure your propane tank is full
* Make sure the connections to your propane tank and regulator are secure
* Make sure there are no leaks in your gas hose by using a leak detector spray or by using soapy water (full instructions on how to do a gas leak test [here](https://support.ooni.com/en_us/how-do-i-perform-a-gas-leak-test-BJdijR_zj)).
**During ignition: **
* The door should be open,
* The chimney should be on
* The chimney cap should be removed
* The chimney baffle should be open
* The ceiling vent should be open
* The fuel hatch should be removed
**After ignition: **
* The fuel hatch should be placed back on
* The door should be closed
* Make sure you are taking 5 seconds to turn the gas control dial and keeping the knob pushed in for a further 5 seconds after ignition.
**If you 've run through the checklist above and your gas burner still isn't
lighting:**
* **Detach your regulator from the propane tank and remove your gas burner from your oven**.
* Push in and turn the control dial until you hear a *click*. You should see a spark jump between the ignition tip and the front of the burner
* If you cannot see a spark when you turn the control dial, reposition the ignition tip. Make sure that it is **3mm away** and positioned closely so that it can 'contact' a metal part of the burner like so:

**If your gas burner isn 't lighting but you can hear gas flowing, you can use
the provided matchstick holder to manually light your gas burner in the
meantime. Do not attempt to manually light the gas burner without the use of
the matchstick holder. **
