To set up your Ooni Volt 12, follow the steps below:
1. When using the oven indoors, find a position near a power supply and ensure it's placed on a clean, flat, solid, stable and heat-resistant surface. Ooni Volt 12 fits nicely on standard 600mm/60cm/23.6" kitchen countertops. **Note** : Be sure to check with the manufacturer of the surface you plan to use your Volt 12 on as the product can get hot during use; if needed, make sure to place the oven on a heat-resistant surface or use a trivet or heat-resistant pad.
2. Clear the space before moving your oven into position and remove any nearby flammable objects and materials, including tablecloths.
3. If you're using the oven outdoors, we recommend the medium or large [Ooni Modular Table](https://ooni.com/search?type=product&q=modular*). Don't put it on a glass or plastic table.
4. When using outdoors, please make sure that your weatherproof extension cable is properly grounded and rated for the oven's power supply. Extension cables that include electrical safety devices like RCDs or GFCIs are ideal.
5. Unpack your oven, position your oven on the worktop and insert the stone.
6. Plug the oven into the power supply and switch the button on the right-hand side.
7. Press the touch-screen power symbol, at this stage, the internal cavity light will come on.
8. Set Ooni Volt to the desired temperature based on the pizza style you are cooking
9. Set the optional timer for fuss-free heat-up!
**When using your oven for the first time, you need to season it before
cooking. Select 850 °F/450°C on the temperature dial and rotate the timer dial
to 20 minutes. When the timer expires, put the oven into standby mode and let
it cool. Once it's completely cooled down, give the inside a wipe using a dry
paper towel then you can get it powered up again to enjoy some pizzas!**
